Cairo doesn't reveal itself all at once.

Some of its most interesting fashion isn't found behind the windows of the city's biggest stores. It's discovered through a friend's recommendation, an Instagram page you save and come back to, a small studio, a weekend pop up, or simply by asking someone, “where did you get that?”

That was part of what sparked Local Avenue.

Over the past few years, a new generation of Egyptian designers has been building brands with identities distinctly their own. Fashion, jewellery, accessories and objects that feel connected to where they come from without needing to look traditionally “Egyptian.”

Small collections. Strong points of view. Pieces you didn't see everywhere.

And yet discovering them often required knowing where to look.

That gap between what was being created and how easily it could be discovered became interesting to us.

Local Avenue grew from that idea: what if discovering independent brands from the region didn't depend on already knowing their names?

Cairo is where that thought began. But the Avenue was never meant to stop there.

From Cairo to Beirut, Amman, Dubai, Casablanca and beyond, there are studios and independent brands creating things worth finding.
